KUALA LUMPUR, 11 May 2010 - In its constant effort to support the Ministry of Health's call towards a healthier nation, Jacob's Walk of Life 2010 is now back for the fourth consecutive year to inspire thousands of Malaysians to walk their way towards a healthier lifestyle.
Focusing on this year's theme of 'Satu Malaysia Sihat' parallel with 1Malaysia concept and the Ministry's theme of 'Gaya Hidup Sihat Satu Malaysia, the Jacob's Walk of Life 2010 will be held at Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong this 25th July 2010.
More than 30 members of the media were invited to leave their busy desks for a casual chit-chat session at home cum Jacob's Walk of Life Media Launch with its central theme focused on "Healthy Home, Healthy People - 1Malaysia Sihat" at Jacob's Healthy Home located at Acmar D'Rapport in Jalan Ampang.
"By further strengthening our support to the Ministry's efforts, the theme for this year's Jacob's Walk of Life is "Satu Malaysia Sihat", parallel with the 1Malaysia concept and in line with the Ministry of Health's theme of 'Gaya Hidup Sihat Satu Malaysia. By aligning our theme with that of the Ministry, what we hope to achieve through the Jacob's Walk of Life campaign will clearly resonate with the Ministry's vision for a nation working together towards better health." said Dieter Schulz, General Manager Kraft Malaysia & Singapore, in his welcome address.
Dieter further explained that "It is imperative for us to work together to achieve the vision of 'Satu Malaysia Sihat' one step at a time through the grassroots level - beginning from home. Simple health choices made at home not only contributes to a positive change in a person's life but also to those around us such as our family, friends and neighbours. The choices we make can be as easy as reading food labels, choosing healthier meal options or even by simply walking together as a family can get you a step further towards 1Malaysia Sihat. This is to show that health is not an overnight achievement but rather an accumulation of the everyday simple choices you make. As they say in the popular Malay proverb, "Sedikit-sedikit, lama-lama jadi bukit", he added.
The home session turned out to be a truly 1 Malaysia affair joined by special guests Director of Nutrition, Ministry of Health, Puan Rokiah Don, Chief Operations Officer of Media Prima Radio, Seelan Paul, Consultant Dietician, Indra Balaratnam and long time Jacobs' Ambassadors known as the JCrew, MyFm DJs, Jack Lum and Gan Mei Yan and HotFm DJs, Fara Fauzana and Faisal Ismail. The sessions were moderated by local TV personality and emcee for the day, Zainal Alam Kadir.
Media members were given the rare opportunity to get up, close and personal with special VIP guests, Puan Rokiah, who shared her personal experience as juggling her career and a mother caring for her child and family while Seelan Paul shared his challenges on communicating simple health practices at home while bringing up his children in a mixed cultural background of Chinese and Indian heritage.
Later in the day, Consultant Dietician, Ms. Indra held a lively activity session on reading food labels and meal planning while engaging the media in a fun food preparation challenge. Media members were split into 3 teams with each team being assisted by VIP guests and JCrew members.
The interactive games and activities demonstrated how simple healthy choices we make at home through our daily meals, exercise and other lifestyle changes can be both simple and fun to share with your loved ones.
In the last segment of the home session, JCrew members shared their own simple workout routine they practice at home followed by a brief session by Fitness First instructor, Bernard on the importance of keeping fitness and simple daily workouts to burn calories. The evening ended with JCrew pulling the media to join them in a specially choreographed exercise routine called "Dunk with Jacobs" to prove that exercise can be both fun and entertaining. It didn't take long before everyone started grooving along to the fun and energetic workout.
The Jacob's Walk of Life campaign has been supported by the Ministry of Health every year since 2007. This year's campaign is co-sponsored by Anlene, Fitness First, Mizuno, Spritzer and Zespri Kiwi.
